On the water

Îles de paille, îles essentielles

2024

Great night-time show on a guided drift on a river, crossing the heart of the city, live theater on the water with 10 actors and musicians.

This straw island, like a piece of land swept away, evokes troubled agriculture and rural festivities, the loss of common lands and the rush towards individualism, but also alternatives in ways of life and the hopes of each person.

A joyful and playful island, a modelable social parcel, caught in the flow of a perilous future along the water.

N.B. This creation is self-sufficient in lighting, sound, and movement. At first glance, a large field of freshly cut wheat appears, still bristling with scarecrows and inhabited by farmers! Speaking of birds, here we quickly hurl insults, and the islanders choose to split the island in two, each to their own camp, each to their own field. Separated by chainsaws, the lives on each parcel become quite different. However, tired of the collective, a ‘each for themselves’ mentality takes shape, and it’s like a ‘water of migrants’ from which individual exacerbations will emerge. A lighthouse, a state watchtower, sees everything, frames the story, and remains dazzling!
