ilotopie, open theater company
Public spaces are our stages, invention and artistic intervention our modes of action, and all waters are our stages.
Born in the Camargue on the last island of the great Rhône in 1980, our company, a pioneer of street theater, has retained from its aquatic origins a taste for emergence and splash.
Our shows, great theaters in landscape, are performed all over the world, often for thousands of people, transforming everyday places into surrealist representations where the imaginary has taken over.

A NEW ADVENTURE THAT CONTINUES!
On January 1st, ILOTOPIE company becomes ACQUAFORTE company.
Same legal entity, same team, same repertoire, and new projects: it will be led by Fanny Baxter and Dominique Noel, previously co-directors with Bruno Schnebelin, who will be escaping at the end of 2025 with ilotopie’s name. Partners in this transition which has been in preparation for 3 years now, Sandrine Brunet continues her collaboration as administrator and Julien Bonelli as technical director.
With a motivated and solid team of around thirty artists, a unique theatrical form on water, and new projects overflowing from drawers, we will describe this transition with the beautiful oxymoron Manu coined for us: ACQUAFORTE CIE, a new adventure that continues!
Thank you to our president, Catherine Njine Djonkman, and to all the board members for their invaluable support.
A huge thank also to the entire ilotopie/AcquaForte cie team for their commitment and energy to this ongoing transition.
And may this beautiful ship sail on with its cargo of utopias!
