On the water

Reflexions

Contemplative aquatic installation and performance

RéfleXions is a contemplative and poetic spectacle. Transparent, shifting humanoid silhouettes are anchored to the surface of the water. Air, water, and light bring these larger-than-life human transformations to life. At night, a musical landscape performance, as if escaped from a painting or a contemporary tale, questions humanity's place and diffuses its poetry across the lake.

Dozens of transparent, shifting humanoid figures, anchored to the water's surface:

- Here, in a lively conversation, a group of eight upright figures sway with the slightest breeze and movement of the water.
- There, a pair face each other.
- Further on, scattered, a few seem to stubbornly swim against the breeze.
- Near the bank, a solitary silhouette waits…

Rudimentary imprints of life, these groups of individuals bear witness to daily existence.

Like persistent reflections on the water's surface,
they testify to a form of sociability suspended by the crisis we are experiencing.

Both similar and ever-changing,
tossed about by a morning breeze or mirrored in the water's surface by the grace of twilight,
these animated floating sculptures engage and inspire conversation a
mong the city's users and passersby who encounter them.

During the day, the sculptures interact with the seasonal light,
absorbing the energy needed to become luminescent at nightfall.
Air, water, and light bring these larger-than-life human molts to life.
As night falls, drawn by the haunting sound of a violin, one approaches the banks or quays, and the water seems inhabited:
dozens of transparent, luminous humanoid figures sway on the surface, like the exceptional collection of an anthropology museum.

A musician, perched in his floating costume, glides among the silhouettes, giving them voice and enchanting the space with his original musical compositions.
Two creatures, riding their flaming mounts, meet and joust with fire before scattering tiny will-o'-the-wisps across the water's surface, among the silhouettes.
No one will emerge unscathed…

A musical landscape performance, seemingly escaped from a painting or a contemporary tale, RefleXions questions humanity's place, diffusing its contemplative poetry across a vast site.
